Towers of Paine National
Park was created in 1959. It covers a surface of 181,414 has. It
is located at 51° 10’ southern latitude and 72° 57’
western longitude. Its height varies from 50 to 3050 m above sea
level.
This park is ideal for the tourist involved in trekking, eco-tourism
and adventure sports, as it has paths with several difficulties,
apart from amazing views given by its lakes, glaciers and mountains.
Its major attraction is Paine Massif, with its representing peaks,
called horns and tower, both forming three pointed peaks. It features
lodgings of different categories, such as hostels, “hosterias”,
cottages and resorts, most of which offer all types of excursions
within the park.
Natales Port, located at about 145 km southwards from the park entrance
is the starting point of the excursion and it has hotel service
and transport from and to connecting points, as Calafate, Punta
Arenas and then Ushuaia by land or by Mare & Via Australis cruise.
